Cincinnati Photographers JDRF Gala

By: Daniel Michael Photography

May 13, 2012

There is a sneak peek on our facebook page of all the photos.
The finished version will be ready in a week and will be available on a website
I'll post here.

The JDRF Gala was an impressive even. Not only did they raise an
incredible amount of money and have some 800 guests, but they had a great theme
which included performances from the College Conservatory of Music. As if that
was not enough, there were also generous donations from twelve year old girls.
I think that was the telling part of the evening for me. After the donations
were completed and every card from $50,000 all the way down to $250 were held
up, the granddaughter of the late Cynthia Marver Marmer had a surprise for us.
Cynthia was a legendary volunteer who is the namesake for the first annual
Cnythia Marver Marmer Volunteer of the year award. Her granddaughter Grace if I
remember correctly as I'm horrible with names, continued the family tradition.
She had had one more set of cards made for the "fund a cure" for
$96.50. You ask why an odd amount like that? She had been saving her money in
her piggy bank from babysitting and giving lessons and not only donated it, but
challenged everyone in the room to match her donation. I know it didn't add up
to a big number like $25000 or $50000 but I think it was the most generous act
I may have witnessed all evening. So much so that the Auctioneer and myself
each who didn't even have a bidding card were moved to match her and probably
threw in a little extra.

I could tell you more about how special the evening was, but I
really think that sums it up. Enjoy the photos!

Wedding Photography Cincinnati, Robyn & Greg 5-5-12

It was like a family reunion of wedding photography, videography and DJ with us, RMAX films and Mark McFadden DJs and Master of Ceremonies!  That is a good team right there!  It's been a little while since I've gotten out to The Radisson in Covington KY for a wedding reception.  As always though, it was a pleasure.  It's a beautiful room that has plenty of seating but yet keeps everyone feeling more of an intimate environment.  All About Flowers created the floral arrangements. The wedding cake was from Servati.  The combination of Folchi's formalwear and Kotsovos' Bridal Gowns was a combination that by looking at them could only be described as amazing!

After the ladies finished getting ready at Robyn's parents house, the wedding ceremony was held at St Xavier in Downtown Cincinnati after which we stopped for outdoor photos at P&G Pavilion, Fountain Square and the river walk at Riverside Dr and then started again for the Reception at The Radison in Covington KY.  We were cruising along through photos thanks to an extremely cooperative wedding party since we were trying to get a lot done and still get back in time for the derby.  It was fun, beautiful and Greg and Robyn, their family and wedding party were more than I could have asked for.

It is so nice being a photographer when you get to work with a great wedding planner!  Julie and the crew from Cincy Event Planning made my day so easy and stress free that I think I'm going to have to include them in all my packages from now on!  Ok, so that would be nice but would likely move us out of most people's photography budget!  Still, it's tempting.... I couldn't have asked for a nicer group of people.  The family and friends and especially Joe and Linda were just a joy to spend the day with.  The vendors were amazing as expected when I work with Julie.  It's been a little while since I've gotten out to Ivy Hills Country Club for a wedding reception and I don't remember it ever looking this beautiful!  I'll have to give Prime Time Rentals some credit along with Cincy Event Planning and Courtenay Lambert Florals who I got to see for the second time this week!  Every time I see her work I am even more impressed! It rained through the wedding ceremony at St Xavier in Downtown Cincinnati and stopped for outdoor photos at Fountain Square and the Riverwalk at Riverside Dr and then started again for the Reception at Ivy Hills.  I'm not sure if rain is good luck or not, but rain when we're indoors and no rain when we're outdoors sounds like good luck to me! I've been seeing a lot more of Steve Bender DJs and Master of Ceremonies.  We had two weddings tonight both with his crew!  Prior to the wedding I was able to briefly catch up with Rachel from Brideface again.  I actually feel like I can tell the difference between all the ladies from Brideface and the rest of the make up artists.  It's easy enough for one person to have a distinct style but for a group to be distinct is quite an accomplishment.  The wedding cake was from Spoon Fulla Sugar, so I don't think I need to say anymore there!  It seems we've been seeing an awful lot of Jimmy's Limo.  I've seen the same driver four times already this year and twice this weekend!!

With such a great couple and great group of vendors, I feel fortunate to have been included with such a fine group of people.  Thanks to Joe and Linda for choosing us!  I hope you enjoy your sneek peek!

It was a FUN Friday for this photographer!  I first want to say just how great everyone was today.  Always pleasant, smiling and wanting us to enjoy ourselves as well.  Second I have to say Mrs. Jena Kirkendall made a STUNNING bride! So, for the second week in a row I was right back in Covington at the newly remodeled Madison Emerald Room for the wedding reception.  We had amazing weather for the beautiful outdoor wedding ceremony at the Rose Garden in Ault Park.   It seems not only am I making regular appearances at the Madison, but I also keep running into my good friend Nemar Maize with Maize Music!  I love listening to Nemar mix music.  When he's your DJ, you hear at least three times the number of songs you do with other DJ's.  The wedding cake was from Bakery Hill, Florist was Kroger, Tuxes from the fine people at Folchi's, hair and make up from Mary Spencer and Jenna's bridal gown from Fabulous Bridal.  It seems we've been seeing an awful lot of Jimmy's Limo.  I'm not positive who helped them with their first dance but I know I recommended Bud Walters and it looked an awful lot like his magic!

Now of course I need a special line to thank the wonderful team from Jeff Hill Video.  Not only is it always a pleasure to see them and work with them, but Jeff referred Jenna and Mario to us!

Having said all that, I think you can get a pretty good feel for everything by looking at the photos here and facebook.  Enjoy!

It was a long weekend for this photographer!  But it was well worth it!  I had two super fun weddings and then a few fantastic engagement sessions on Sunday.  After a stunning evening at The Grand on Friday, I was right back in Covington at the newly remodeled Madison Emerald Room for the wedding reception.  The Ceremony was at the gorgeous and always easy to work with St Francis De Sales.  To me the striking part of this day was simply family.  As the best man and maid of honor spoke so well, it's about bonds.  I could see it in their eyes, Dad, Mom, Sister, Brother and husband and wife.  I saw great joy, love and people who would give anything for each other.  The evening however was highlighted by the Amnesia Lane Band who were nothing short of spectacular!  The wedding cake was fantastic and made by (I feel like saying "as usual" here) Spoon Fulla Sugar.  The florist was Secret Garden and hair and make up was done by the Style Squad.  If you loved Michelle's bridal gown as much as we did, it was from Fabulous Bridal and as you can see on the facebook page, they also had a photo booth from Say Cheese and a limo from Land Force One.

Having said all that, I think you can get a pretty good feel for everything by looking at the photos here and facebook.  Enjoy!

The Photography, Wedding Ceremony and Reception was going to be nothing short of fun and crazy from the moment Andy and Laura walked in the room.  Don't get me wrong, it was classy and elegant as well.  But what a night!  I had to leave a few of my favorite photos off the facebook page in favor of good taste!  My hat's off to The Grand by McHales in Covington KY and Jeremy with DJ Butlers for really making it a reception to remember.  St Xavier was beautiful as always.  It's always good to see the same faces when I'm in there.  We worked with Land Force 1 both Friday and Saturday this weekend.  Both families were very pleased!  I was fortunate enough to meet a new vendor for me at least tonight as well.  His name is David Klingerman with Five Stone Productions Films.  I'll link his page when I have the info!  I love it when Videographers are easy to work with.  I also worked with Say Cheese Photo Booths both Friday and Saturday!  I think everyone knows how much I love them!!

Now, it's off to bed.  I still have more blogging to do tomorrow!!

Cincinnati Photography Party For A Purpose

By: Cincinnati Photographers Daniel Michael

April 15, 2012

Being a wedding and event photographer in Cincinnati has it's perks!  This week I had the pleasure of participating in the Party for a Purpose at the Manor House Friday night!  I had the pleasure of meeting Colleen Johansens's husband Brad, some celebrities as well as some good friends.  I'm again very impressed with the generosity of Bill and Kathy Kinane who are the very generous owners of the Manor House in Mason OH.  Anyone who has ever met them appreciates just how special of a couple they are.

I was blown away by how gracious Nick Lachey was all night long.  Every time he turned around there was someone else wanting a picture with him.  And every time he was smiling and happy to do it.  Marvin Lewis, Mike Zimmer and many others were a great help to the success of the evening.  I also had the distinct pleasure of spending some time with Bill Webber of AE Doors which I thoroughly enjoyed.  Then of course there was the Soul Pocket Band!  It's always a pleasure to see and hear them!  It was a fantastic evening all around and was a joy to be a part of.

Cincinnati Wedding Photography, Ron and Michelle

This one certainly snuck up on me!  It seems I just saw Ron and Michelle a few weeks ago after they were engaged.  This one was another family reunion for me!  Ron and I grew up together in the same neighborhood while Michelle was in my high school graduating class.  So all my old neighbors were here including Tom and Sue who are the parents of a couple of our past grooms Mike and Ben, my own parents, the parents of my best men at my wedding and I could go on but will not!  Then there were some high school friends as well as a couple of our previous couples Chad & Jen and Joel & Shelly.  I ran into a groomsman from one of last year's weddings where another groomsman was sent to the ER for stitches.  It seems the list never ends!  It was so much fun seeing some people I haven't seen in 10-20 years as well as getting a chance to get a chance to really see what kind of people Ron, Michelle, Sabrina, Elliot and Grant have become in the years we've been away from each other.  I completely forgot how much fun everyone is!

I was so thrilled for Michelle to see how amazing of a day it was.  It seemed everything just went exactly as it was supposed to.  The weather was perfect, everyone was on time or early, the ceremony and reception at Receptions West were beautiful, Ron and Michelle both cried when they saw each other and everyone was fun and exceptionally photogenic.  Will from DJ Toad had the dance floor hopping and then met us at JTAPS Sports Bar afterward where Tommy was so kind and took great care of everyone.  BTW, when you go to the facebook page, that's him blowing fire!  The cake was perfect and I heard it was tasty so thanks to Cakes by Mindy for that!  I have horribly forgotten the name of the Chauffeur from Your Chauffeur but she was fun, and right on top of things.  Everyone loved her!  It's only appropriate that Michelle had the florist from Kroger in Montgomery do her flowers since she manages that store.  They were wonderful.  The Kroger people certainly were there in force as well!

We really couldn't have asked for anymore from you and I can only hope that you love the photos as much as we enjoyed being there.

Cincinnati Photography Brian Young-Ready for Battle Fundraiser

By: Cincinnati Photographers Daniel Michael

April 1, 2012

My wedding photography ability has given me the priveledge of taking part in some events in the Cincinnati area where I've gotten to meet so many truly special people.  I can't tell you how much these types of events impact me.  We've made a decision at our photography studio to only donate to charities where we can actually be a part of them because of this.  So often when we photograph a wedding people assume the relationship ends when they have their album and photos.  Friday night was an example of two things that I think are underestimated by both myself and by our couples.  I'm not sure I truly understand the impact we make in our couples lives however, I'm quite certain they underestimate the impact they have on mine.  I am more motivated by the relationships we build than I have ever been by the photography.  As timeless as the photos may be, the one thing I take with me from every wedding is the relationships we have built.  Rarely has all this come together and been more obvious to me than this past friday.

It all started in 2005 when I photographed Marissa and Ryan's wedding.  That led to photos of Missi and Brian, Carly and Tyler, Katie and Eric, Neil and Laurel and quite a few others that weren't in attendance Friday night.  When Marissa was organizing this event she asked Missy what she would like for the event.  I'm still a little overwhelmed that about 4 or 5 years since I've seen her and having only met 4 or 5 times she asked for me.  It kinda blows me away.  At first I thought she was just trying to say thank you and make me feel good but then I was talking to Marissa and she told me the same thing.  I knew they loved their photos and that we had a great time, but I severely underestimated our impact.  Then after thanking us repeatedly I think Missi and Brian, Marissa and Ryan, Carly and Tyler, Katie and Eric and Neil and Laurel all underestimated their impact on me.  To me, I wouldn't have missed this.  I wasn't there to take photos.  I was there to see my friends and support them.  I just happened to bring my camera and snap off a few shots no different than what I'm sure a lot of their other friends did.  I just have a better camera and know how to use it.  I'm trying not to underestimate what my being there meant to you but I'm very confident I walked out of that room more moved by you than you did by me.  So I want to thank you for that.

Having said that, I'm know nobody was moved more than Missy and Brian by the support they received by everyone in attendance that evening.  They raised almost double what they thought was an unrealistic goal.  My hat goes off to all who donated and particpated.  In particular I want to thank the Manor House for donating every dime that was brought in to the cause.  Some venues may have donated the proffit but they donated every dime including the bar, food, staff and location.  Kathy and Bill, you are most generous.

I also want to reitterate publicly for everyone to see that on the one year anniversary of this event, I'll be hosting a party to celebrate whatever we have to celebrate.  If that is 100% healing and celebration, I'll be thrilled.  If we are celebrating family and friends, just as well. My plan is that we are celebrating both.  We will be having it either at my house or at the new studio depending on how many people are coming or I am open to other locations if we need to accommodate a larger number.

The rest of the photos from this event are on the facebook page.  Please feel free to tag yourselves and comment on either the blog or the facebook page.
