Film Wedding Photography

At Images by Daniel Michael we were the last to move from film to digital and are the first to bring film photography back to weddings! Our style has always been based in a film thought process keeping it classic, timeless and natural while incorporating more dramatic looks that are easier to produce with digital.

Film photography offers a unique and special experience that is different from digital photography in several ways. Here are some of the key factors that make film photography special:

  1. Aesthetic qualities: Film has a unique look and feel that can't be replicated by digital cameras or editing software. Each film stock has its own color palette, contrast range, and grain structure that give it a distinct character.

  2. Tangibility: Shooting with film involves handling physical rolls of film and developing them in a darkroom or lab. This tactile experience can be rewarding and satisfying for photographers who enjoy the process of working with their hands.

  3. Limitations and constraints: Film photography requires a more deliberate and intentional approach to composition and exposure, as photographers only have a limited number of shots on each roll of film. This can lead to more thoughtful and impactful photos.

  4. Timelessness: Film photographs have a classic and timeless quality that can endure for decades or even centuries, as the physical negatives or prints can be preserved and archived for future generations.

  5. Nostalgia: Film photography has a nostalgic quality that can evoke memories and emotions in viewers, as it harkens back to a time before the instant gratification of digital photography.

Overall, film photography offers a unique and special experience that is distinct from digital photography, and it has a loyal following of photographers and enthusiasts who appreciate its unique qualities.
